You may know me from Snowpeak Ruins where I was accidently trespassing. Honestly, it wasn't my fault, I just follow the Freezards.
Head Cannon
After the mirror in Snowpeak Ruins was destroyed, all of the monsters were able to return to their homes in the surrounding mountains. Any freezards formed by evil magic (in which 8 mini freezards are forcibly joined to create a freezard) were broken up to find their own minis to join with. Freezards create minis and minis create freezards. Creating a freezard is similar to minis falling in “love”. They have to get along very well to be able to join together. And if they find they don’t get along, they (get a divorce) separate to try again. The freezards main function is to protect the territory they have in the mountains which is why they have ice breath. While under the evil magic, they were disoriented to the point that they thought they were back at home or constantly under attack. That’s why they were attacking Link. They share territory with chilfos and have a kind of peace treaty with them (because I want to draw them when I get better). When minis join, they create a strong connection (even if they are forced by dark magic), so when disconnected, the pain manifests as an empty feeling. In this way, the minis affected in Snowpeak Ruins are always struggling to be with the ones they were separated from. Even though they were joined without first getting along with one another, they still formed that bond. The only case in which they aren’t affected while being separated, is if they separate themselves. This mini doesn’t know what happened to the ones it was forced to join with and some times fears they left it behind on purpose. [I’ll add more in here as I think of it.]
